Matteo Cainer Architecture is an interdisciplinary practice, with a distinct conceptual approach to architecture and design. With projects that vary in scale from urban planning, landscape, and building design, to installation and exhibition design, the work is informed by a continuously evolving dialogue with the cultural setting and interaction between different disciplines.

Established in London in 2010 and led by Matteo Cainer, the practice is committed to building and designing the highest quality projects. With a strong belief that design has the power to create change, it has explored wider horizons through its various collaborations, contributing to the development of the practice internationally.

Composed of a small team of highly qualified and motivated architects, we have structured ourselves with experts in urban design, architecture, landscaping, interiors and installations design. Working with multiple tools from advanced computing techniques to graphic design and model building and on various projects has given us expertise the ability to lead and control project every step of the way.

Design Philosophy

At the heart of our design philosophy is an enthusiastic ambition to creatively harness new technologies through innovative thinking, a bridge between technology, art, and design, generating an architecture that addresses contemporary issues in emerging sectors and that evolves through concepts, as a series of built ideas.

Each project has its own specific history; it tells a different and elaborate story, one that evolves through multiple layers that unfold as if nested one into the other. The concept is elaborated and woven throughout the project like a’ fil rouge’ creating a seemingly intricate architecture that however is driven by a simple, yet at times unexpected idea.

The integration of multicultural experiences with ideas and a strong sense of spatial investigation results in an intellectually challenging and spatially complex architecture that not only responds to the existing environment, culture and politics but seeks to redefine and influence it with an innovative vision of the future and with the freedom to develop unique and independent urban experiences.

To better nourish talent within the practice our teams are in constant dialogue with our consultants. Architecture and the pleasure of experimentation and research is the goal of our practice, however, it is the very nature of Architecture that requires our ability to collaborate inside, alongside and outside with multidisciplinary teams of experts ranging from engineers to landscape architects and designers.
